Why use Hayes Construction

In this day and age anyone can call themselves a ‘builder’. Building, or construction, is one thing, delivering a project on time and on budget is entirely another. The co-ordination and execution of a successful building contract is an art that takes much practice and experience to achieve. We take on projects and challenges that continually test our abilities with a personal touch that always gets results.

We've been delivering excellence for over 40 years

Using over 40 years of experience, we create practical solutions that overcome technical difficulties and development obstacles, in any economy, on time and to budget.

Our goal is to help you create usable practical efficient buildings and environments in which people can live, work, learn and play, and which they are proud to be part of.

Recent Projects

In any domestic project there is one, and only one consideration – ‘is the lady of the house happy’? Our skilled team, who are all family men, are considerate and sensitive to the running of any home. There priority is to carry out the building work in the most efficient way possible and always mindful of the fact that the house will be occupied after the working day is over.

Where we differ from other contractors is through our management. Not only does our MD visit you on your initial enquiry, he will then measure and price the project and supervise the daily work on site. Our MD is a carpenter of 40 years experience and also has a higher technical certificate in building.

Domestic projects require daily communication between contractor and client. An occasional visit by the man in charge in a suit is not the way we operate. It is essential that client and contractor are on the same wavelength. This is only achieved through frequent contact.

We see it as our job to guide you through the process of building which is often confusing and frustrating, but ultimately rewarding, emerging with a finished article that you, and we, are proud of.

St. Benedict Centre at St Marys Abbey – a case study.

Phase 2: Re-ordering of the Western Range – a large section of one of the many existing properties at St Marys. The project produced a fully rewired, fully centrally heated property with 4 new guest suites, three theological classroom study areas, male, female and disabled toilets, a large fully fitted Stoneham kitchen/dining area, a refectory and a tea point for serving 60 people.
Phase 3: The refurbishment of a grade one listed Guest House which in part is 600 years old. Consisting of structural alterations, fire screens, fire alarm, rewiring, secondary double glazing, full redecoration and new floor coverings throughout. The project also comprised the construction of Pax House across the other side of a 10m courtyard. Pax House is a single storey square box of a building with a ‘Sedum’ flat roof covering and large lantern light and was weather tight by October, just before a period of cold weather. Internally it is fitted out as a library and offices with under floor heating, heat recovery system, high efficiency low energy lighting and insulation to walls, ceilings, windows and doors well in excess of current building regulations.

Commercial Builds

Our commercial projects portfolio includes churches, schools, restaurants, bars, offices and public buildings. Each individual commercial scope of works is tailored according to the constraints of the particular business and site. We offer the level of communication and flexibility to make each commercial project work around individual operating constraints, ensuring minimal impact on the business without compromising on standards.

Commercial work often encompasses an internal fit-out service. Bars and restaurants particularly have capitalised on this, where bespoke joinery has been essential to the aesthetic, functionality and efficiency of a busy working space. With our extensive joinery experience, we are able to meet timelines and offer flexibility often not available elsewhere.
